Corsair DDR3 4G 1600mhz and Asus P5G41T-M LX

Hello, im building a budget rig and was wonderding if my board could handle DDR3 1600 memory. I know that it officially supports 1333 memory, but dont know if adding anything clocked higher will make the board not post at all. any help is appriciated.

The details tab on the spec's for your motherboard says that it only supports up to 1333mhz (OC) memory so what will happen is if you put in the 1600mhz it will clock it at 1066mhz or not work at all. So it makes no sense to buy 1600mhz memory , you should get 1066mhz memory because that is what your MB will support and it will support that memory if it is overclocked to 1333mhz.

hmm alright, i see. That makes sense. i was hoping that the memory would naturally downclock to 1333, to allow for future upgrades to a board that supports 1600, but now im not so sure...

Any 1600 memory will run at 1333.

I bought CORSAIR VENGEANCE 4GB (1X4GB)1600 MHz for this mobo ...mine wont boot...i wonder finding an answer is hard ...some peaple said that it will downclock.... well didnt work for me

mine didnt boot either. i upgraded to newer AMD system and new mobo, im sorry to say, i really dont think that ram is going to run in that mobo. i experienced the same thing. good luck.
