Uhm.... is this the sign of something borked with the ram, or maybe memtest doesnt work right with ddr5 (doubt the latter)? Concerned, since this isnt even in XMP mode, this is running at far lower than what its rated for.

CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 5600 (PC5-44800) C36 1.25V
ASUS Prime Z690-P
i5 12600k
other stuff...

Solution
The allowable errors in Memtest is 0.

Test each stick individually, in each slot.
One at a time.

The problem may be the RAM, it may be the slots.

Tested stick 1 in slot 2. Errored pretty quickly.
Tested stick 2 in slot 2. Errored in test 3, then 5.
Testing stick 2 in slot 4... up to test 5 no errors yet, letting it run while I go grab a bite to eat...

Stick 2 in slot 4 produced no errors for a full pass.
Put stick 2 in slot 1, about a thousand errors in the first few seconds.
Put stick 2 in slot 3, cleared a full pass, no errors.
Put stick 1 in slot 1, memtest wouldnt even get past "Measuring cpu/cache/mem speed..."...
Put stick 1 in slot 4, no errors.

Looking like slots 1 and 2, which are labeled A1 B1, are bum. I guess I'm taking this board back to MicroCenter in the morning sigh ... I will report back if the replacement board works out ok.

Took the board back ... MicroCenter didn't have anymore of the ASUS Prime Z690-P boards, so we discussed an alternative, and I came home with an MSI Pro Z690-A for the same cost.

Been running both Corsair sticks in slots A2/B2, and its not thrown a single error in two full passes thus far today.

Bad ASUS board roulette. We can call this issue solved =p
