Corsair Debuts Mag-Lev Case Fans

Well, Prolimatech Ultra Sleek Vortex 14 do 98 CFM, Phanteks PH-F140HP do 88 CFM, Xigmatek XAF-F14 series do 90.3 CFM, all under 20 dBa. Why we should buy a mag lev beast that does 97 CFM with 37 dBa ... what is the point of cell a fan that do hight CFM with all that noise? Use a lot fans to reduce fan usage?

Look at the static pressures. You wouldn't want to put any of those fans on a radiator or heat sink.

Look at a Noctua's 140mm NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM. At top speed (2000RPM, same as the 140mm Corsair units in question) it produces 107.4 CFM (182.5 m3/h) and 4.18 static pressure, at 31.5 dBA. They have rubber anti-vibration corners (Noctua was doing it before it was cool) and a 6-year warranty. They are comparably priced and spank these fans. Seems like mag-lev is all marketing. Call me when Corsair's Pro version hits $15.

who wrote this garbage article that is the same rubbish fan they have been producing since the corsair liquid coolers debuted. coolermaster sickle flow has been kicking this things butt since before it was made, and will be til long after it's discontinued.

When I saw lev", I thot the idea might to levitate the case off the desk....

Are these a throwback thing ? 2400 rpm ? OK I understand Corsair needs extreme rpm fans to push air thru their high fpi, aluminum rads ... but other than that, can't think of a use for them. This isn't the 1990s. I don't have a radiator fan that breaks much over 2/3 of its rated 1250 (850) rpm...

The GPUs (780s w/ 26% OC) don't break 44C under Furmark ... 4.6 Ghz goes break mid 60s.

As for fan specs ... they're pretty much useless. Since martinsliquid lab shut down there's been a dearth of reliable test data too keep anyone honest. As flow drops as SP increases, love how they all report flow at 0 SP and SP at 0 flow... two conditions that will never be seen in any real world applications.
 
I started off intrigued at the notion of a mag lev bearing. Then saw the specs and they're kinda crap. Outside of a novel bearing the overall end product is nothing special and overpriced. They keep up with these specs, low warranties and prices and soon enough noctua will easily be a 'value' option while still setting the gold standard.
