Howdy. It is Corsair Graphite 760T a good chassis to build a compact gaming rig in it?! Sure, I realized it's a Full Tower chassis which but I guess if I install a mITX or mATX board in it, and by mean I guess I would not complicate myself too much by doing that "cable management". However, I would like to hear some "pros" and cons" about that chassis. Cheers!!

If you like 500D then feel free to go with it,

While i like the 500D swing open doors, just like my 760T v2 has (+1 for Corsair), i don't like the plain looks of 500D but that's just me.

I can call mid-tower ATX cases as "compact" where mini ITX and HTPC cases are "miniature". 😀
I had ATX sized MoBo in midi-tower ATX case once, but never again. Everything was cramped up really bad and there were next to no room where to work in. Of course, had clearance issues as well, e.g GPU ended up partly in a 5.25" bay. In mid-tower ATX case...
First off, there are 2 versions of 760T case. The 760T and 760T V2 where both cases also come in white and black color. The non-windowed version of 760T is actually known as 730T, so, there's no such thing as "windowed new 760T",
730T specs: https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/Categories/Products/Cases/Graphite-Series%E2%84%A2-730T-Full-Tower-Case/p/CC-9011046-WW

As far as 760T goes, only diff between regular and V2 is that V2 has little bit different side panel latches. Other than that, both cases are same.

My Skylake build also sits in a 760T V2 Black case where i also have Demciflex full filter kit with it in use. Full specs with pics,

760T is one of the best (if not the best) full-tower ATX case there is. Then again, choosing a PC case is personal choice and not everybody would think it's the best full-tower ATX case. As far as pros go, there's a long list of them. Rather than listing them all here, you're much better off by looking Linus'es video review (link below). Also, i haven't found any cons about this case so far.

Corsair 760T V2 (comes in as black or white),

If you have any specific questions about the 760T that wasn't covered in video review, feel free to ask.

They are full towers. The word 'massive' often comes to mind. The sheer size of a full tower creates 2 issues generally.

First is airflow. There's a lot of space in a full tower, high volume of air, that over time will heat up. This takes multiple fans and a good fan curve setting to actually get all that air moving, and not leave stagnant 'hot spots'.

2nd issue is wiring. Everything will be too short. Psu leads are only so long, so having them tuck out of sight and be all nice and presentable, especially any leads like the EPS to the top of the motherboard, is often an issue without extensions. This includes fan leads on many motherboards that don't have sufficient headers strategically placed on the board or any usb/audio cables from the front Jack's.

A possible 3rd issue, for me, is aesthetics. Full towers have a huge amount of space. Your components, especially mATX and mITX mobo's, only take up minimal room. Everything looks tiny.

To me, full towers have limited usage, full custom loops, excessive amounts of hdds, triple or quad sli on E-ATX motherboards etc.

Honestly, as good a case as the 730/760t is, something like a Phanteks P400S or NZXT S340 mid-atx towers is a better design for starting builders.

To me, "massive" is super-tower ATX case, like Corsair 900D (specs), while full-tower ATX cases are just right in size wise. Mid-tower ATX cases, in the other hand, are a bit too small for my preference.

What i like about full-tower ATX cases the most are 2 things:
1. lots of space inside it, making it easy to work in it
2. it's size has majestic looks (something along the lines of: the bigger, the better)

While full-tower ATX cases have a high volume of internal air, once you populate all fan mounts the case has, you can easily move all that air and also do it quietly enough that PC won't annoy you in a quiet room. 140mm fans work better with it than 120mm fans since those move more air and also do it more quietly than their smaller counterparts.

Wiring wise, i have lots of excess cables behind my MoBo tray and i haven't used a single wire/power extension. Also, most modern PSUs have long enough cables to reach everywhere even in full-tower ATX cases, including EPS12V cable.
Can say for sure that Seasonic PRIME 650 80+ Titanium and Seasonic M12II-850 EVO cables reach just fine. Though, Seasonic S12II-520 EPS12V cable is too short for it to be used in a full-tower ATX case. Just need to make sure that EPS12V is 650mm long and not 550mm long when using full-tower ATX case, else-ways, power extension is needed.

Aesthetics is personal opinion and there's no point to discuss/argue over it.

While P400S and S340 are popular at current date, those two cases have 1 mayor flaw in them and that is solid front panel. All cases that have solid front panel have handicap in airflow. While it's possible to get proper airflow in a solid front panel case as well, one needs to use high-end fans with high RPM which in turn increases the noise coming out of the PC.

Great example is Cooler Master MasterCase H500P,
specs: http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/mastercase-h500p/
in-depth video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRsb4C5gLLc

While the case does look stunning, it's solid front and top panel design is so bad that it made this case one of the worst cases when it comes to the airflow. Also, there are plenty of other things that are wrong with that case as well.

Heh. Yeah I'd limit the 760t to massive, something like the 900D is more like a closet, I swear that case should come with coat hooks. Both my CM 690 II and define R5 are very large for a mid tower, bordering on almost the same size as some of the smaller full towers. With just a mobo, ram, gpu to take up space there's so much room left over in my R5 that just for sits and giggles I mounted the 280mm aio as intake with the fans interior as pull config, just to take up some space. Bonus is the gpu gets constant breeze.

The issue with front restricted cases like the R5 (has a door) or the glass front etc is the designer puts the fans too close to the restriction, which kills a lot of the fans ability to draw air at lower rpm. The R5's fans are inset, so that's not an issue, plenty of room to create the vacuum. Even the Enthoo has a solid front, and I've seen posts of ppl saying they heard/assumed it's got crap airflow due to solid front, but I've never seen it for real. Air just has to flow well, not necessarily fast.

Back in the day when ppl had 5 hdds in raid, I could see needing space like a full tower, but with SSDs mountable in back of mobo or on psu shrouds etc you end up with a tiny gpu and nothing but air.

And that's not just aesthetics, you actually do get better airflow through most mid towers than full towers with fans at lower rpm.

And I did have to put the wire stretcher on my Seasonic M12-II 520w and the Evga G2 550w just to get the EPS12V to gpu up the back and then down to the header. Even my R5 has 1 fan extension, but that's due to mobo fan header placement, it's at the bottom, fans are on the top.

But as said, the 760t is prolly the single best case Corsair ever put out, but just like any other case, it's all dependent on your own personal tastes. Some ppl really hate the classic box of the R5, I love it. Some ppl far prefer the 'Gamer' looks of the Apevia X designs, I think they look like cheap crap toys you get from a Dollar Store.

Update Post : I've been thinking on another/second alternative. I guess that Corsair Obsidian 500D (Non RGB SE) would be a good chassis for what I need to build my compact gaming PC. Also it's a bit cheaper than the Graphite 760T V2.

Of course, had clearance issues as well, e.g GPU ended up partly in a 5.25" bay. In mid-tower ATX case, micro-ATX MoBo will suit just fine. My AMD build has micro-ATX MoBo and it sits in a mid-tower ATX case (full specs with pics in my sig).

You from Texas Aeacus? Lol.

OK, Op, so now you got it? Opinions will vary, everyone has one, as the saying goes. And now you've basically gotten all the pros and cons from both sides of the fence.

But, at the end of the day, there's one abiding fact that's indisputable, even by Aeacus ( 😛 ). We do not have to look at it, you do. So no matter what our personal opinions are, it's going to be you that has to live with the choice.

So pick the one you like better.

I wish i'd be from Texas. Big houses, big trucks, what's there not to love? 😀

As Karadjgne already stated, we can only give you our personal opinion. And since PC case is personal choice (among few other things like KB, mouse, headset), go with the one that you like the most.

I decided after all that Corsair Obsidian 500D will suit really well to build a "compact" custom gaming RIG inside of it. However, I appreciate every opinions of everyone. Thanks!! 😀
