Corsair GS800?

Hello I have a GS800 and I get the same noise most people get shown in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjC2YTUsNVg
I contacted support and they said to check the rails and see if thy are all running within specs. Im new to building pcs and i got the PSU new from a freind who said it was compatible. My question is is it compatible with my pc? Im tring to have corsair replace the psu with a diffrent psu because i read all GS800s make that noise. But they want me to pay shipping thats half the retail price of the psu. Should i just keep this PSU. The noise is really annoying but i guess i can tolerate if it does no harm ro my pc

thats an RMA job your getting a resistance wine by the sounds of it cause by the fan stopping and starting... i would send it back and ask for a different model as it seems to be a problem across that range. the G700 also has it...

Ok but they want to charge more to ship than i payed for it. Can it cause harm to my pc?

I watched and listened to the video that you've linked to.

The noise seems to correspond to the occurrences where the fan slows down. That noise on that video is not coil whine. It sounds more like a faulty fan bearing.

Coil whine occurs at a much higher audio frequency.

Ok Im gettimg it replaced with a 850HX I see its a 50 watt increase but is it a good PSU? Also the GS800 has a 8 pin cpu connector that separates into two 4 pin. Does the 850HX have that because my cpu has a 4 pin?

Yes, the Corsair HX850 is a good PSU.

Corsair has always used a 4+4 pin ATX12V/EPS12V connector to handle motherboards that have either a 4-pin or an 8-pin CPU power connector.
