I just got a new CPU and cooler. Amd fx-9370, and cooler name in thread title. The cooler is "Certified Refurbished" with an official looking corsair sticker claiming as such
I've installed it perfectly as far as I can tell.
The pump lights up, vibrates and makes lots of noise. The fans are spinning. I had to install them on the outside of the case due to space concerns though. They're pulling air outwards. The 3hole plug from the pump block is plugged into the CPU fan header
Anyways there seems to be no cooling happening at all. When turned on the CPU rapidly builds heat until it hits about 86c and then the whole system powers off automatically. I can tell the temperature from lookingin the bios, it doesn't live long enough to boot windows. And it still overheats and shuts off even just in the bios
No hot air comes from the fans. The pipes and radiator feel cold. I'm fairly sure the heat isn't going far from the CPU
I figured I added too much thermal grease. I've cleaned it off and re added a rice sized amount. Hasn't made much difference, though it feels like it takes a little longer to overheat.
Average survival time before overheat is 90 seconds
Any idea what could be wrong ?
