Hi there,

I installed a Corsair H100i onto my CPU to replace my stock air cooling fan. However now my computer has gone from a low almost inaudible hum to much louder. (Still within acceptable realms for a computer but it is disappointing)

What is there that I should/Can check to find the source of this problem?

This occurs on idle when the Temps are 42c.

During stress testing naturally they got loud however when the cpu is not being stressed I expected them to be running queiter as a water cooler should be greatly more efficient than a stock cooler.

CPU is Intel i5 4670k. Motherboard is Asus 787 Extreme.

Regards,

Solution
damn 42C idle your room must be hot lol or u should re seat the cooler

anyways download the Corsair link and just turn the fans down thats what i did i have mine running 1200max RPM 800 Mini RPM

It is summer here so we are looking at about 30+- degree room temperature as a base.

But reseating and applying my own thermal paste is on the books as something that I'm considering may be useful.

For the other replies, I should have held off this question and digged just a little deeper.

Apparently the Corsair fans run at a much higher rpm than needed and as such can be easily swapped out in favour of silence.

I swapped out the two fans with a couple of spectres I had floating around and it's back to being a silent machine. If I find I require more performance out of it then i will swap my front Noctuas with the spectres and go from there.

Thanks everyone
