I have the Corsair H80 Hydro Series cooling my CPU.

Check list of what I have tried.

Reseating the mount.
Cleaning and reapplying new Thermal Compound
Checking Voltages
Cleaning the fans/grill

Hardware:
2600k
H80

I am completely confused as to why it is overheating with 0% load...Yesterday I was running multiple programs and it was at 60C then turned it off later that day and it was overheating again... Today I am getting nothing but 85-96C which is terrible for a CPU to be running at. The fans are running fine. The little white guy on the controller for the H80 is blinking I can only assume its because of the temperature of the CPU. My only guess after all this trouble shooting would be the pump is faulty. Though touching one of the tubes it feels hot and the other cool which is how it should be. Input and output... This problem is extremely frustrating as I can't do much of anything with my beastly computer without the chance of frying my CPU. And help or suggestions, even the dumb ones are welcome. I am at a loss.

Since u have already reseated it and checked everything. There is nothing that would explain 80/90 TEmp's under-load my best guess is faulty unit. I would suggest you go for RMA. H80 on FX8150 i can bearly push 60 and it's overclocked by like 800 at least.

Ya... I am on the phone with Corsair now. Wish me luck with their tech support... I don't know of any sure way to see if the pump is not working correctly. I can only assume it is because the touch of both the heatsink and in-take tube are hot.

I did a test with the cooling unit just to see what happened.

I was having the tubes elevated higher than the CPU/Mount getting temps of around 90C. I placed the unit leveled with the CPU and it seems to have a major effect on the temperature. 65-70 0% load, still very high... Is the pump for this unit known to be weak? The specs show it at 4mm pressure but that means jack to me.

I still have the stock fan and am going to try using it. I will post here with the results.

Well, I learned something new tonight. There is such a thing as "airlocked". You fix this by taking your fans/cooler and shake it while holding it above the CPU. If that doesn't work it probably locked inside the mounted part. To fix that I used the back of a screw driver while my computer was on and hit the corner to jiggle it. The most unhealthy thing to do for my CPU but it worked and I am happy now.

P.S. If it isn't grinding it isn't working lol

Right yeah the Corsair H80 is indeed by definition a watercooler. So yeah technically it is possible for that to happen but i have never seen it. And i have installed a'lot of those units. But hell we both learned something Navist! I shall pass this knowledge further in the line of computer repairs 😛
