Corsair HX 850 or TX 850

What should i opt, HX 850 or TX 850, My system specifications are.

i7-920
gigabyte ex58-UD5
Corsair 3 x 2gb 1600 mhz
ATI HD 5970
Nvidia GTS 250 (Physx)


I will be pushing HD 5970 to its limits, So recommend me a power supply from two of them. As far as i know, HX 850 is Modular whereas TX 850 is non modular. What is the other major difference?

HX is newer, better, modular, and more expensive. I'd get the HX for a system like that. Either would work though.

Both are very good Power supplies.

I would also advice you to get the HX since it is modular.

But if you wanna spend less then TX will also be good enough.
Both will be fine for your RIG.

both are decent, but if it was my $,,,i would be the hx850....in the corsair line,,,,the psu,s with the hx are usually a bit more expensive, but also a bit higher quality from the info i have got.

Even TX are very good quality PSU and have 5 year warranty.

But when you are buying a PSU with such wattage then cable management becomes a problem(Since these units have lots of cables).

agree about cable management..the hx850 is modular....i bought a hx650, first modular i ever owned....sort of wonder how i would like it., and ended up liking it a lot...only have to use the cables needed.

One thing to consider is that the HX version is slightly more efficient...theoretically this will save you money in the long run, although it costs about $50 more than the TX version...take a look at the specs for both of them on the Corsair website...Personally, I'd get the HX.

HX is the way to go. Its modular and you can manage your cabling

Getting an 850W will give you a lot of headroom too for adding more hardware down the road.

CWT has done a great work with the HX850. It is an impressive psu without any doubt. If you can afford it, you won´t be disappointed.
