Corsair PCI-E Cable RM850x

I have a Corsair RM850x Power supply that I bought recently and I have a question about the PCI-E cables. One end goes into the power supply as a single 8 pin and the other end comes out as 2x6+2pin. I have a GTX 1080, and I wonder if the single 8pin can handle both 6+2pins plugged into the GTX1080 at the same time. So far, I haven't noticed any issues, but I'm concerned that the single cable might not be able to carry all the power.
