Hi,

I'm going to be picking a Corsair power supply and I was wondering on how they name things on their power supplies.

What is the difference between them (AX, CX, HX, TX, RX, GS etc.)?

I'm also going to probably get the 750W 80+ Bronze Semi-Mod CX Power supply for $80. Would you recommend the CX for gaming or something else?

On that page, they basically list them in order of price/quality. The differences are anything from modular/non-modular, to their efficiency rating, to the quality of the capacitors they use inside. The AX being their premium PSU, VS being the lowest. The CX line you are looking at is a good, middle of the road PSU. Not recommended if you plan on doing any heavy overclocking, but other than that, it's a decent PSU.

How long do you think it would last me in comparison to the other series? The same? Less? And yes, I'm not doing much overclocking (or none at all). What about silence on the PSU?

I look at the warranty for how long I can expect the PSU to last. They almost always last longer but still, that's how long the company trusts them for, that's how long I trust them for. The VS CX have a 3 year, TX RM have a 5 year, HX AX are 7 year warranties. The RM series is made specifically for quietness. I am using an AX and the fan rarely ever even comes on. I've never had a CX so I can't speak for the silence/noise, but i doubt it would be to severe. Corsair is a decent company.

I think I can spare a pretty penny for the silence (RM in this case). What's to say about EVGA? They have pretty cheap and top rated ones.
