Which should I get, the Corsair RM850x Shift or the Seasonic Vertex GX 850 ?
I have enough money for either of them but I want the most future proof one in the long term.
I have no idea which to get atm.

Hi B1ueTera. For me personally, it's challenging to answer this for you. Are you putting this into an existing rig, or one that you're currently planning? What are the full specs of your current rig, including the mfg. and model of your existing power supply? If you have a 40 series GPU (or 3090 Ti) with the 12+4 pin connectors, then it might be worth buying the SeaSonic Vertex GX850. However, if you don't have a GPU with the new connector, then perhaps you'd prefer having cleaner cable management with the Corsair RM850x Shift. I have zero experience with either unit.

I've personally wanted to try one of the newer PCIe 5.0 / ATX 3.0 PSUs but none of them have really pulled my attention. For the time being, I'm partial to the traditional PSUs, such as the model below. Super Flower Leadex are what were branded into EVGA G2/G3/P2/T2 power supplies. I own both the EVGA and Super Flower variants. The only difference is the cabling is not sleeved on the Super Flower models and I've read that they have different fan curves, although I haven't personally noticed this myself. The titanium model linked below is currently on discount for $155 USD.

Also, they've recently released a 12+4 pin cable compatible with this unit at a cost of $17. However, there is a lone customer review that claims that customer service (in this case NewEgg) will send you the cable for free if you reach out to them. I haven't confirmed this yet.

Regardless, at your budget, you have a lot of options.

----------------------------------------------
Super Flower Leadex Titanium 850W 80+ Titanium
$189.99 (+ $35 off w/ promo code MLPCCR2558, limited offer By Super Flower)

Thank you for your thorough reply. It's also really hard shopping for PSUs i feel like nowadays. There is so many options also.
