Corsair TX750 V2

Hello guys,

I sold my Cooler Master GX 750 and bought the Corsair TX 750 V2 power supply for my Phenom II x4 4ghz and upcoming GTX 560 Ti SLI graphic cards.

Do you think I made a good decision or should I have kept the old PSU itself. The reason why I changed my PSU is because I've heard a lot of negative reviews about the Cooler master PSU but never heard anything negative about the Corsair unit.

What do you guys think?

Why is it overkill. I will using two Asus GTX 560 Ti's overclocked to 900 Mhz. Is it still overkill?

I skipped over the SLI part; in SLI under full load your cards will draw 450W and 37.5A by themselves.

Do you think this PSU will be sufficient even for a GTX 680 SLI setup? I am asking this because in the coming months (say another 7 to 8 months) I decide to upgrade my entire system, will that be ok with the TX 750 V2.

Probably not, since the GTX 680 in SLI uses a combined (and somewhat staggering) 573W and 48A alone (leaving you 22A for everything else in the system with the TX750v2). Yes it would work, but it's cutting it a little close for my taste. Using a power supply calculator, and overbuilding your system a bit, I got 768W as the minimum, and 820W recommended for your system, dual GTX680's, and a bunch of extras. Using that, I would say at least a 850W power supply at the minimum (like the Corsair AX850), which would not be a bad choice really since the AX850 gives you 70A to work with. Another option is the SeaSonic Platinum 860. You could also overbuild and get the Corsair HX1050 which gives you 88A to work with.

A TX750V2 will support any SLI setup bar the highest ones (aka quad sli or gtx 580 behemoths or those types).

Dual 680s will be fine.

TX750V2's are well made, seasonic manufactured (high quality), and can easily pull another hundred W's on the 12v rail safely if needed to (not very efficient though).

It'll be fine. Don't worry, you got a great power supply.
