Corsair Type 4 PCIE Cables used to replace Type 3 PCIE cables

I lost the cables for my current power supply (Corsair CS450M) and I'm upgrading to a better GPU that requires a 6 pin connector, my friend gave me his Type 4 PCIE cable from his own Corsair PSU (RM850i).

Can I use the Type 4 cables on my PSU which came with Type 3 cables?

CSM uses TYPE 3 cables.
