Corsair Vengeance cause BSOD, wont run at XMP

they won't run at XMP speeds. they keep causing BSOD with the error code 0x 00000124. I even RMAd both sets, got two new sets (in sealed retailed packaging straight from the factory) and the problem persists.

I used to have an i5 2500K and gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4H-B3 and these sticks used to give me BSOD once every few days.

Thanks to a sale at Microcenter I was able to buy an i5 4670k and an Asus Maximus VI Hero for only $325 total, so I jumped on that deal. With the new sticks I get BSOD every 15 minutes, even when I'm not doing anything.

On the flip side, I brought home 4 sticks of 2GB Nanya 1333MHz memory that I pulled from decommissioned Dell workstations at work. In both set ups they worked with no hick ups.

Memtest never came up with anything.

Any ideas?

Do you have the latest BIOS and are you running them under XMP or at the mobo default

I am the most paranoid person when it to comes to keeping things up to date, so yes. BIOS is up to date

I have tried using the XMP profile and also tried putting the timing and frequencies in manually.

Ok, so asssuming you have them at the stock timings, voltage, etc correct....I'll assume yes (and yes I know about ASSuming) anywho, make sure at spec 1600 timings 9-10-9-27, 2T, , then try raising the DRAM voltage 1.56, next raise the MC (memory controller) voltage - think it's VCCIO or maybe CPUVTT on your mobo, aup + 0.0 from it's current setting.....let me know how it goes

found the problem. one of the sticks was bad but the errors didn't start popping up until the 15th pass. the other 3 sticks made 20+ passes with no errors.

i just let memtest run all day while i was at work with 1 stick at a time, and naturally the very last stick i tested was the bad one. so it took 4 days to find the stinker.

It's always the last one even when you figure I'll start with a different one than normal, it always seems it's the last one
