So i have Corsair LPX 2400mhz, im using the XMP Profile to achieve 2400mhz... but i read that overclocking the ram can help to get the most out of an overclocked CPU. i have my 6700k overclocked to 4.6Ghz and i want to try overclocking the ram manually to maybe 2800mhz...

i have never overclocked ram before..so i was wondering is it as simple as bumping up the speeds and adjusting the times and bumping up the voltages? or should i be doing something else? and can i seriously damage my PC if an overclock fail? unlike CPU overclocking it mostly crashes and i just have to adjust it until its stable... is ram similar?

thanks :)

IMO don't overclock your RAM. RAM frequency only matters a lot when you are using the integrated GPU or an APU as those use your system RAM as Video Memory. Since RAM instabilities are so hard to diagnose, I don't recommend doing it unless you have a lot of patience.

On paper 2800MHz look better than 2400MHz but in the real world the difference is negligible.
