corsair vs 550W PC sudden automatic reboot

hello recently i have issue with my PC i have a corsair vs550 PSU......the computer randomly start maybe 1 time a day i find the computer automatic reboot by it self! i can't the issue here! i searched the internet for the same problem and found a lot of people who says that a faulty psu might be the issue! what should i do to be sure that it's the power supply?

Try your PSU in a different computer.

Go into Windows Event Viewer. In there you will see critical errors, find the Critical error from the last time it crashed and post it here.

If its your PSU that is the issue it will say something like "Kernel-power" and the number 41 and 63.

Buy a better quality PSU, the Corsair VS is a tier four model - that's only one notch above junk. You shouldn't be looking below tier three on the list if you want something that will perform well for a reasonable amount of time, tier two or better if you plan to use the PC intensively.

A 970 recommends 28A and a 500w PSU, i would say your is going to want more being an amp extreme core edition. I would guess its your PSU that is giving you issues, the VS 550 is a tier 4 unit which is good for every day use and to not be run at full load. Youre probably pushing it close to the limit on the unit and its just shutting down before it hurts something.

i know that this PSU is crap but i want to know if it's faulty or not the only way is to test it in another system or test a different psu in my system! right?

i already cleared the log before i ask here to record the new events because the previous events confused me so i have to wait the next random reboot 🙁

i ran my GTX 970 for 1 year with this PSU and before the GTX i had r9 270x i ran it too with this PSU 😀

i also want to add that my PC doesn't do the random reboot when i play games or when it's in a load......every time the reboot occurs when i leave the PC idle on the desktop!!

If you have C6 sleep state or other things of the sort enabled in BIOS, try disabling it. If that fixes the issues for the time being, your PSU is unable to cope with the fast transients low-power sleep states puts out.

c3 state support auto
c6/c7 start support auto
cpu thermal monitor auto
cpu eist function auto
should i disable them?

C6/C7 is usually the problematic one, try disabling that one first.

Don't disable thermal monitor since that might fry your CPU if you have heatsink issues at some point in the future.

i have a dual fan heat sink but i will keep it auto

Ok so C6/C7 is disabled, you were not playing a game when this happened just at the desktop right?

The error you get indicates a bad PSU. But it would be strange to get that failure not under load. However still possible.

yes c6/c7 disabled....i was browsing the internet on chrome....and the reboot happened....it's very weird that this doesn't happens when i play games! i will try another psu...thank you for your help
