Corsair vs OCZ

I was wondering with this current build would the Corsair power supply be efficient enough to power the system. It was recommended to me and I only heard good things about Corsair. The thing is it's only 400w and I just wanted more opinions on if it will power my system. I also notice on the GPU I picked out it says "Minimum 450W power supply requirement" and this to is making me nervous about the 400w maximum. My second option is a OCZ at 500w, would this be better then the high quality Corsair for my system?

Both are high quality, and on that level I'd recommend you not worry. And since your GPU requires 450w minimum, I'd buy the OCZ and be done with it.

Corsair HX-750 has a minimum efficiency of 89% which is unbeatable! In addition, it comes with 7-year warranty period and I am sure you will upgrade to a graphic card that require 750W in 7 years. The HX-750 woulb be the best choice if you are an American as it is really cheap in the U.S. Get the TX-650 instead if you live in NZ.

The general rule of thumb is a high quality 500 to 550 watt power supply with sufficient durrent (amps) on the 12 volt rail(s) can easily power a system with any single video card made.

andy5174 - You're in overkill mode. We're going to be seeing more energy efficient cpu's and video cards. It's already happening.

I couldnt find anyone to supply my first choice of PSU (Be Quiet Dark Power) and ended up with a 700W OCZ modular unit. Must say from first impressions the OCZ unit does a great job - maybe the 24 power lead could be a little longer for my PC (Antec 1200) but other than that well worth the money
