I've got a Corsair vs650 and I'm unsure how to install it. My case only support installing top placed PSUs.

You can see in the pic that the PSU fan is facing downwards, i.e. inside the case directly towards motherboard and cooler. What exactly does the fan do, take in or throw out air cuz if it takes in air and throws from back then it's fine but I'm not sure what does it do. Let me know if the placing in picture is the correct way? Is it safe?

Thank you

At this position you placed it the fan of the psu take the air from the case and blow it in the psu and then the air goes out from the back of the psu. Modern cases have holes for psu so it can take air from outside the case and have its own airflow. Both ways are safe no worries.
I've two questions now.
So what does the PSU fan actually do?(is the fan for its own ventilation?)
Let me clarify, in my case, It takes in air from the case i.e. from inside my case(probably hot air) into the PSU itself and throws the hot air out through the holes at the back(holes that are beside the power cord connection) ? Did I get this right?
