Hey all
About to update the core of my machine...
Basically i'm only wanting to order a new board chip and ram and want to know if my VX550w with 41amps on the 12v single rail will be sufficient to run my new build.
New Build:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
RAM: Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz HyperX
MB: Asus M4A87TD/USB3 870
PSU: Corsair PSU 550W VX550W ATX12V v2.25
HDD1: Seagate 500GB Barracuda SATA II 3007200rpm 32MB cache
HDD2: Samsung 1Tb EcoGreen F2 SATA-2 Hard Drive
GPU: XFX 8800GT 512MB Alpha Dog (Replacing with a 5770 or similar soon)
DVD: Sony DVD Writer DRU-190S SATA Super Multi RAM 20x
Case: ThermalTake Mambo
Card Reader: Akasa AK-ICR-01B
It's been running my AM2 system fine I know their good PSU's just wasn't sure if the amps would be too low for a quad core and a new 1tb GPU that will be going in shortly.
Using the power calculators the proposed new build should use about 400w so thats fine but its the amps i'm not sure about.
Any advice appreciated
Chris
