Hello! I built a computer that had only one stick of ram in it, and all seemed fine. A few days later, I came across some extra cash and bought three more sticks of the same kind of ram. After I installed it, my computer would run for a while, but then randomly crash.

Temperatures were fine, so I ran memtest86+ on the system with all four sticks in, and saw memory errors immediately. I then took out the ram, and tested each stick, one at a time (running overnight), but they all passed. Then, I tried testing with two sticks in, but that failed. (I noticed after the fact that the test was run without the XMP 1.3 Profile applied, but for the basic stability tests here, I don't think that matters)

CPU : Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme6/ac ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

I thought I was pretty thorough in checking whether the parts would work together, but I did just notice that my RAM is not in the [urlExt=http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Extreme6ac/?cat=Memory]supported memory list[/urlExt] for my board. Would that cause the issue? In other posts, I've seen folks suggesting an increase in voltage might help - but with the four sticks in, I tried 1.5 and 1.55 and 1.6, and it didn't do any good.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Solution
According to Corsair memory compatibility search here, the Corsair 8 GB DIMM (part number CMX8GX3M1A1600C11) is not shown on compatible memory results for the Z97 Extreme6/ac motherboard.

It is possible that not all memory combinations have yet been tested with this motherboard, so the DIMM may be compatible anyway.

Suggest test one DIMM at a time in one slot at a time. So test DIMM in first slot, then in second slot etc. Then do the same for the remaining DIMM's. This will help determine which DIMM's and/or slots may be faulty.
