Corsair XMS2 memory errors

I just built a new computer with a MSI p965 platinium mobo and two gigs of XMS2 ddr2 800 c4 and I have errors while I run memtest. At default the bios showed them at 1.9v and timings 5-5-5-15( tho cpu-z shows them at 5 5 5 18 ) so I naturally put them to there factory specs at 2.1v and 4-4-4-12 but had errors. So I put bios back to default and yet they still have errors. I tested both sticks individually at 2.1v and 4-4-4-12 and they didn't seem to have any errors. It seems to me its a bios or motherboard problem. There isn't any bios updates so I'm kinda stuck on if I should RMA them and try a different brand or what.

Any suggestions?

Do you have the latest bios loaded? Also, list your complete system specifications including your power supply. MSI has a forum also. You may get some info there. Your memory does not appear to be defective and I am also not aware of any conflicts with any MSI MOBOs.

I have a Sunbeam NUUO 550 watt(38A on both rails), e6400 and a ati x1950xt. I searched but I couldn't find any bios updates yet for my board since it's fairly new. It doesn't seem to be a memory problem. The only setting I can run memtest without any erros is when I set the biod to SPD and it default timings to 5-5-5-18. I'm probalby goibng to havet to call msi tech support.
 
Well I don't really like the way it fixed but it did. All I did was take the sticks and tested them individually again at 4-4-4-12 and they both past memtest. Then I put them both back in dual channel and ran memtest for an hour with no error so if memtest says its good... that's good enough for me.
 
I have the same mobo and RAM and am running at 4-4-4-12 1.9v. Everything works perfectly. I ran memtest for about 30 min with 0 errors.

I see from your response that after reseating the DIMMs, you no longer have errors. Be careful with this mobo's DIMM slots. Although you hear a click from both retainers while installing, you can push down on the top of the DIMM and you'll see that it the DIMM will move down a little more and you'll hear both retailer click again. Usually the first retailer click tells you that the DIMM is set. After the first click the retainers look fully closed but they are not. Tricky mobo.

Man, I know the feeling. I hate solving a problem yet not really knowing why or how. That is as unsettling as a voodoo ritual. But, good news and glad to hear it works.
 
Well nevermind.... I was running 3dmark05 and it crashed so I ran memtest again and it threw many errors right away :evil: . Even now on SPD settings it is throwing erros. Now I'm lost
