Could a 4k 60hz monitor safely OC to 1080p 75hz?

My 4k monitor, a AOC U2879VF, supports 4k 60hz native, but when I was looking through all the resolutions I saw that 1024x768 could be set to 75hz. I did some research, first at how to overclock a monitor, then if it was safe, and I saw some mixed results. I looked into my monitors chips to see if they generally overclock well but I could find no technical information. I was reading that 1080p monitors safely overclock to 75hz at a lower resolution, and usually can at native, but im too scared to run 4k 75hz and have too much of a risk burning out the monitor. So if 1080p monitors can run lower resolutions at 75hz will it be safe to downscale to 1080p and set it to 75hz? Or relatively safe, I understand overclocking always includes a small risk. I just got this monitor, and cant afford to replace it, so any advice or information would be appreciated.

not sure, although i do know my sony bravia 4k 60hz tv, does 1080p 120hz in nvidia custom resolution no problem at all - but that is a bit of a different beast.

if you are running through hdmi 2 you probably won't be able to go 4k 75hz due to exceeding max data transfer of the cable (if doing 4:4:4 chroma).

I dont necessarily need 4k 75hz I was just wondering if 1080p 75hz would be moderatly safe, because its not 4k, as how on 1080p monitors they can do 768 75hz.

Of course you can overclock your monitor once you lower your resolution down to 1080p as a 4k 60hz screen can deliver 8million pixels, 4 times the amount of pixels a 1080p screen has. This also means that your monitor can refresh 8million pixels at 1/60th of a second. Therefore, its safe to say you can overclock your monitor to 60 x 4 = 240hz (this depends on your cable as well, i suggest you use a DisplayPort cable). IF you want to be extra safe you can just use the normal marketed 144hz, that way your eyes can enjoy 144fps, that is if your graphics card is capable assuming you have one :)
