Could a single GTX 970 play any title before 2010 maxed (Or on the higher settings range) out in 4k?

I don't own a 4k monitor, I have an ASUS 1080p monitor. Just wondering about Nvidias budget monster of a card.

before 2010 probably reach high settings but it is recommended to sli before a 4k upgrade.

You can also try a 'trial' version of 4k using DSR, the performance should be similar.

If you are talking about games from before 2010, there shouldn't be any problems with reaching at least high setting on 4k (there are some I was able to get 4k with playable frame rates with games later than that, for example Mass Effect 3).

(DSR is one of my main reasons to not go 4k 60hz screen).

I'm not sure, but using my new GTX 970 with DSR in Portal 2 at 4k (then downsampling to 1920x1080), I get a constant 60fps. Granted Portal 2 isn't exactly the most demanding game out there, but it is 4k nonetheless
