I'm looking for a good USB PCI-E Expansion Card and was wondering if anyone here could recommend a good one. There are so many options and I'd rather get a good one now. Anyway to tell which are better than the others? Or is it just the luck of the draw?

Solution
Just look for a card on sites like Newegg or Amazon and choose one with lots of positive customer reviews. VANTEC cards have a very good reputation.

Thanks for letting me know about VANTEC. Their prices do seem to scream quality (at least I hope so). Any other names I should look for?

I don't think the company name on the card is as important as the controller chipset it is based on, like Marvell 88SE9230, Etron EJ168 or ASMedia ASM1142. ASMedia supplies AMD with all Ryzen motherboard chipsets.

So I should look for these chipsets? Marvell 88SE9230, Etron EJ168 or ASMedia ASM1142

What is the difference between them? Is it just that they're newer?

The company website gives some information about these chips. The chipset below is used as an add-on chip with some higher end motherboards to add USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports the Intel chipset can not support.
