Could bad RAM cause a computer to shut down in the middle of a game?

Ever since the new fallout 4 patch my computer has been crashing in the middle of playing it. It's not just the game crashing, my entire system just shuts off and reboots. Although I have just tested one of my RAM sticks and with it in, the computer won't boot. Two of them in and it boots up just fine but with just the one specific one in, it won't boot. SO I'm wondering if it's the RAM stick causing the crash or something else.

It should boot with either ram stick. Are you putting it in the correct slot, as per your motherboards manual? A faulty ram stick can cause BSOD or something, but its rare for it to shutdown the system...

Shutting off during games is 70% of the time a faulty power supply.
