Basically, I got hold of an old computer to do my graphic's work off at home, I normally use my MSI Gaming netbook thing to do most my work on the go, but I wanted a stationary computer to work off of,

A few months ago I was given this computer as a gift from my aunt.

What it's got:

CPU: Intel core i5-2400 2nd Gen
GPU: Radeon HD 5450 512mb
RAM: I've upgraded it to 8gb with a few old sticks lying around
PSU: 240 Watt. (it's 50 watts below the recommended requirements

I'm not 100% sure on the bottlenecks and what not since I'm not a PC tech guy like some of my mates, It'll be nice to finally run some of my software's to work at a more smoother rate than they already do.

Sorry if this as been asked before or I'm just making a total buffoon of myself for missing something in the PDF spec things,

If you've got any upgrade recommendations please let me know

Thanks in advance,

Solution
First of all you need low profile card and the one you found is regular size.

After search I was able to find 3 cards which will fit and work on your PSU, I will present them in order of performance and cooling features, strongest first.

MSI N750ti-2GD5TLP GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 $149.99 Newegg

GIGABYTE GV-N75TOC-2GL G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 $149.99 Newegg

Zotac ZT-70702-10M G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 1 GB GDDR5 $114.99 Newegg

All those cards got good reviews, personally I would choose MSI - I had MSI cards GTX 550TI and GTX 660, both run the coolest in the pack, and I really like MSI Afterburner application.
Also, read Newegg reviews, there are at least 2 statements...

Also, read Newegg reviews, there are at least 2 statements about this card to work on 240 watt PSU or lesser, and one of the reviewers has Dell Optiplex 780 SFF!

So, case is closed!

Solution
If anyone is still interested, I have this optiplex 790 sff, and I put a GT 720 in it.

Keep in mind the psu says it can supply only 17AMPS on 12v. Even my GT 720 (19w) is reccomended on a psu that supplies atleast 20 amps. Although, the manual for this pc states you can add a Radeon HD 6450(19w), so Dell thinks thats okay, probabily my much superior GT 720 is fine too and evga is just overstating what it needs. Its working just fine, decent card.

But a GTX 750 ti (60w), even if it worked for many ppl, may be pushing this psu and cause problems later, I predict.

BTW the GT 720 is the best card under 20w you'll find.
