I want to buy a motherboard and it requires a 8 pin and 4 pin, but my power supply only comes with an 8 pin could I buy a split 8 pin and plug in 4 pins? I have a seasonic 650 watt focus gold
 
Solution
Read your motherboard manual, it will tell you if you can only get away with the 8 pin or if you have to use the 8 + 4. If you need both get a new PSU that has the proper cables.

The additional 4 pin is usually for extreme overclocking.
Plugging in just the 8pin should work fine.

What do you mean by:

As In an adapter? If so, no, adapters are not good ideas for power supplies!
