My Build

CPU - Intel I5 4430 3.0 ghz
MOBO - Asus z87-A
GPU - R9 270x 2gb
RAM - Corsair 8gb DDR3 1600
HDD - WD VelociRaptor 500GB
PSU - Thermaltake - TR2 700W ATX

I bought this PC pre built a couple of months ago and am still learning about PCs. I just found out how to update the drivers for my GPU yesterday and wanted to see if id be able to run Runescape on high or ultra but anything above low almost instantly turns the screen white with black horizontal lines and low and min will play for 15 minutes then crash. Also the same thing occurred when trying to raise the graphics on Guild Wars 2. The only game that gets decent fps and doesn't crash is single player minecraft with 30-50 fps.

I want to say it's just the GPU and replacing it will fix my issues but i'm not sure since i have little experience with PCs.

Well, one tip is that when you buy or build a computer it's a good idea to test it before trying to use it seriously, for gaming or anything else. There are programs, like 3dmark and Furmark to name two, that will benchmark your system and stress test it. Benchmarks help because then you can verify it's performing reasonably close to what you'd expect. Stress testing helps because if your computer has a problem, a stress test can immediately reveal that.

I can't tell from your post, did you test the computer before you 'updated' the drivers? Did it work fine before you updated? Cause it sounds like this is a driver issue. What driver did you get and where did you get it? What version of Windows are you using? All three of the games you named should run well on this computer.

I have done stress tests and its passed for all hardware, that was before the driver update. Also before the update it wouldn't run anything well besides WoW. Even Minecraft single player was 5-15 fps. I think this is what i used for my update ( Crimson ReLive Edition 17.11.4 Optional ) found on the AMD website for my card. I use windows 7 64 bit Home premium.
