Well with your current setup you can definitely run Battlefield 4. Upgrading your CPU will likely give your desktop computer enough performance to run it with High settings and good FPS.

Thanks. What I'm really hung up on is how well BF4 will run with Windows 7. I think I heard something about Win 8 supporting DirectX 11.2. I would get 8 but I looked on Amazon and the 1 stars outweighed all other scores by a lot.

Okay thanks, do you think I should go with the 4930k or the 4770k.

There's no need to upgrade your CPU for BF4. The FX-8350 runs BF4 fine. You can look at these benchmarks for yourself: http://www.techspot.com/review/734-battlefield-4-benchmarks/page6.html

If you want to upgrade your CPU for another reason...tell us the reason and we'll be able to help you better.

Also DX11.2 isn't a factor with the 780 Ti since the card doesn't support it anyway. Plus I'm pretty sure BF4 does not really utilize 11.2's feature set.

The 4930k is definitely better, but at that point you won't notice the difference until you do CPU-intensive work such as video rendering or compilation. So if you want to upgrade your CPU go for the cheapest, but you won't see much of a difference

This was a huge help. Thank you!

Okay, thank you. I am planning on doing gameplay recording and using programs such as Sony Vegas. If I'm correct, (and correct me if I'm wrong) you utilize your RAM for gameplay recording.

wat, lol, OP literally has the strongest gaming single GPU in existence atm along with a fairly strong CPU, he can bulldoze High settings and destroy ultra settings. On 1080p that is, at higher resolutions I suppose it'd be pressured a bit 😡

you'll be fine OP, whatever problems BF4 may have with windows 7 you'll muscle through with the raw power of your system.

And yes gameplay recording does utilize your RAM, but imo an 8Gb kit is good enough, it's mainly the clock speed that'll help at this point.

I also see that you're a motherboards expert. Would you be able to tell me if the 780 ti would do well in my motherboard?
