Could my CPU be dead?

Just finished a fresh build. I7 9700k with a H100i pro water cooler. GPU is a MSI 2080. I have 16GB Gskrillz RGB ram. When I started up the PC for the first time after the build it was normal no beeps. I loaded from the USB drive to install windows. I got to enter my serial key in and when it started installing I got a corruption error. I tried again and couldn’t get past sorting files screen before getting a blue screen of death with a critical component dead error. I have tried different RAM configurations. I tried booting without the GPU. I did notice that when I initially boot the computer it will fire up and turn off before starting up normally. Also I cannot get a picture if I plug directly into my GPU. I can only get a picture on my monitor when plugging to my onboard HDMI. My computer recognizes my RAM, SSD, and processor in the Bios. However I cannot find my GPU. My GPUs RGB lights come on and the fans do spin. I have seen someone had a problem like this that turned out to be the CPU. Any ideas?

Try the plugging in the display cable into the motherboard and see if you can get into bios and enable the onboard gpu and see if that lets you install windows. To me it sounds like your gpu might have some issues.

I can get display when plugging into the motherboard. I went to the bios and changed the graphics options to auto instead of cpu graphics. Still no luck with the display after saving settings and then connecting into my GPU

I mean, try doing everything without ever plugging into your GPU, if it lets you install windows without plugging into the gpu at all then that probably means that the 2080 is bad. Just default bios to CPUs onboard gpu and see if it lets you install windows (do not plugg it into the gpu). Best is to just remove the GPU out of the system and see if it works.

Ok so lets try this again, remove the graphics card from your system and make sure in bios you're set to integrated graphics card and try installing windows again. Do not put the graphics card into the system, meaning you do windows install with the graphics card sitting infront of you you on the desk, if that doesn't work it might be the USB drive.

But it might just be the usb stick, if you got a corrupted file error that usually means something bad in the usb stick. try re-installing windows on the usb stick if you can or use a different usb stick if you have.
