Could My GTX1060 Cause Freezing In-game?

Ever since I rebuilt my PC about mid-way through 2016, I've had issues with the computer freezing whilst playing any game. The computer would freeze and hang on the audio. The only way out is reboot.

I've finally started to diagnose the issue and narrow down what it could be. I've ran CPU and memory stress tests for hours and hours each to no problem.

I've put in a new PSU and reinstalled windows; the crashes still happened. Approximately 20 minutes to 2 hours into gameplay.

Yesterday I swapped my 1060 out for my old 660. I played a few games for a few hours each and no issue! In that time-frame, the game would have normally crashed 2-3 times. The 1060 would never get hot either.

So my question is - does this confirm that I had a bad 1060 all along; or is it not as simple as that?

I get stuttering and freezing with my 1060 too, I think my issue is my PSU
