Hi--

With all the updates, etc, we have had, I decided this would be a good
time to update my emergency repair disk (remember those) for my NT
computer, HP5972P, running my instrument. After the program got done
reformatting the floppy, it started copying the new configuration to the
emergency repair disk. After awhile of copying the info, it gave the
following message: "Could not copy all configuration files to emergency
repair disk, disk is full. Files have been saved to hard drive."

What is the significance of this. Are these ERD's really of any use, or
am I wasting my time?

The software hive grows over time, such that a floppy can no longer hold
the contents of the repair directory. If you run
rdisk /s-
the backup will by-pass the floppy and only update the winnt\repair
directory info. You can then backup this directory. In the event you do a
repair and don't have an ERD; Repair will attempt to find and use the
winnt\repair dir info. Worst case you could use your winnt\repair dir backup
data with a parallel install to effect repairs.
