"Could not find this item" when deleting something.

Like the title says. I googled it and came across multiple people saying to use "rd /S "\\?\C:\File\File ", which I did, but it deleted EVERYTHING on my desktop. I restarted my computer and only a few things showed up. What the hell? All I wanted to do was to delete a BLANK folder, but instead my entire desktop is gone.

EDIT: sorry if I'm being aggressive and rude, it's just that I had some documents I was working on as well as some music, and now they're all gone. I didn't back it up because I wasn't expecting for my entire desktop to be deleted.

That command would delete the whole directory.

You may be able to recover with a previous restore point, however no guarantee if you leave it too long.
