Here is the motherboard I bought:
https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130918

And here is the memory stick:
https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231959

I bought one stick earlier on, then bought and added the second. When I added the second, the machine wouldn't start properly and a light on the motherboard was red IIRC, instead of green or whatever. Keep in mind this happened a while back, and I don't have the extra stick anymore; I refunded it. Now that I'm getting sick of this 8 GB RAM machine, I'm looking to try this again, but I have no insight into what caused the problem. Anyone can guide me please?

The second stick of memory had enough differences with the first stick of memory that it wasn't able to operate in dual channel mode. It may have worked if you had both sticks in single channel mode.

I would suggest getting a 2 x 8GB matched set of dual channel memory. Then sell the single stick or keep it as a backup.
