Solution
Yes, if they don't wreck your system the malware you get from the download site definitely will. Quite apart from that it's stolen property and that should be a good enough reason not to use it.

I see it as the kind of theft that people without the guts to walk into a store and steal it off the shelf go for. They think they can't be traced if they steal off the Net.

If you worked hard to develop some software and put it on the market for a fair price, how would you feel about someone "sharing" (your word, not mine) it for nothing?

Please don't pirate any more software/games, it's not worth the risk, and you don't want to be "that guy" who steals products, regardless of whether you buy most of your games. They can have malware, trojans, other malicious content, or you could be on the few unlucky to get tracked down.

To properly answer this question: If you have a good anti-virus and anti-malware program, then no, it won't mess up your high end pc. I'm running a 4790k and a GTX 980 ti with 16gb of Corsair Dominator with an ASUS Maximus VII Formula motherboard.

I'm not saying I support pirating games. But speaking from experience, with the right precautions, no they won't.

Right up until he grabs the wrong torrent one day and whacks his system. I've literally seen this happen, get right past a virus scanner, and its one of the risks of doing it.

Moral of the story, don't steal.
