I have a high end pc, and in every single game I get bad stuttering.
I was getting it on my rtx 3090 and went to a 6900xt, still got it.
Got a new PSU ( Super Flower Leadex Platinum SE 1000W )
Upgraded my ryzen 5 3600 to a ryzen 9 5900x. Upgraded to a x570 taichi, 32gb of ram, a 2tb 980 pro, still happens. The only thing that has been constant throughout these upgrades is ryzen.
Do you think this could possibly be a ryzen issue? I am now wondering if I should go to intel and see if that fixes it, but I wanted opinions before I went through that nightmare.
Its the only thing I can think of at this point, it was happening on my old ryzen 5 3600 machine, everything on my current pc is new and its still happening. This didnt happen when I had a 2500k

I have watched temps in HWmonitor, theyre all fine. Ive set all cores to 3.6ghz on my cpu so theyre not all jumping around. Different ram. Putting settings on lowest they can go.

Is there a software that could turn off absolutely all processes and everything running except the game to make sure it's not a software issue? I'm running out of things to think of

Wasnt sure which page you wanted a pic of. Anything stand out? That was a full match with it happening constantly
Do those hardfaults mean I should add more RAM ? I looked up the pagefaults on google. It said it was due to the pagefile size. I increased it from auto to 46gb ( google said to make it 1.5x your physical ram size )
That second page where it has 20k hard pagefaults is a problem. That latency from the dxgkrnl.sys service is really bad. That process seems to be the DirectX graphics kernel getting held up for much longer than it should be causing your issue. I am not experienced in getting to a clean cut solution from this data unfortunately. This is luckily a huge clue and is significant because its undisputed proof of your issue.

I found this resource about latency mon by them to help sort this kind of thing out.

Youre pretty smart + its pretty confusing. I am just wondering if going to 64gb of ram would help. The page you linked talks about ram lots
The thing to note is that if you have a pagefile enabled hard page faults are going to happen not matter what. I suspect that the hard pagefaults are directly connected with the latency issue on the directx driver. I doubt that getting more RAM will solve your issue. It may be a good experiment to do another clean boot and launch latency mon and open nothing and just let it gather some data for about 5-10 minutes.

Through some googling I have seen a few things come up suggesting a CMOS reset or taking RAM speed on or off XMP / DOCP. Try the RAM speed change first then the CMOS reset. Try RAM in both XMP and base speed which is 2133 or 2400.
Ill do that right now thanks so much.
Also do you know how to update PCI bus driver? I googled it and mine isnt in the other section of device manager ( Dont have an other section at all )

Sorry I got kinda lost in all this read are you back at Windows 10?

What BIOS version are you runing on your motherboard?

Did you tried restoring the defaul/optimized settings in the BIOS + (F10) Save and Exit?

Would you mind sharing a picture of the internal of your PC were we can see the motherboard, cpu, gpu, etc?

Windows 11
Yes I have tried bios defaults
I am using 4.60 bios

does my gpu share with my usb like he said?

Also if I were to reinstall windows what are the checklist of minimum things I must install?
Please say if I miss anything.
Steam
Game
Chipset drivers
GPU driver

What from this list should I do ?

https://ibb.co/ZKXPfW6

Install order (just in case make sure I pick the right devices):

  1. Chipset drivers: https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570
  2. GPU drivers: https://www.amd.com/en/support/grap.../amd-radeon-6900-series/amd-radeon-rx-6900-xt
  3. If Audio, LAN, Wireless and Bluetooth don't work correctly with Windows drivers/update, then donwload and install one by one.

I would really skip Windows 11, and try to fix this issue on Windows 10 which have been out for years. Windows 11 needs to mature a lot, that means months and months. Theres nothing usefull/new in Windows 11 for gaming (not yet and probably not till way later on).

Avoid installing and using motherboard software control/utilitiies/rgb.

Keep and run only 1 monitor software, runing more than one can lead to "bad" results. hwinfo 64 portable - sensors only is pretty good and the choice for many, many Ryzen users.

Also I would try to set defaul/optimized settings in BIOS one more time, and then I would remove 1 stick of RAM and test everything with one at the time.

Unplug any none essential USB devices (printers, scanners, external hdd, etc).

You have 1x m.2 and 1x SATA drives, which one hold your OS?, I found very strange that both drives are underperforming (well CPU, and GPU are too). On which m.2 slot did you installed the Samsung 980 PRO?

Using hwinfo, have you check after 10 or 15 mins of gaming what are the temps of your m.2 and sata devices?

Is the GPU installed on the top pcie x16 slot?

Thanks for taking the time to type that. The frustrating thing is I've done all that.
My os is installed on the m.2 which is on the top slot. It gets to 52c when playing.
If it's underperforming there's nothing I can do to speed it up is there.

I tried 1 stick of ram at a time with default bios.

Even if I limit my display to 60hz not 120hz so it's less demanding the same drops will happen.

No usb are in except my mouse kb.
It might be an unfixable issue. Really might just buy a new pc and sell each part of this build seperately.

Nothing is unfixable, something is definitely making everything else underperform, either hardware or software.

I asked for this earlier, any chance you can post a few pictures of your PC internals in a way we can see all the major components?

Also do you mind runing usrbenchmark one more time and posting the result link?, just restart the PC, close every unwanted programs and post the result link here.

Have you tried the clear CMOS button the way the manual indicates (powering off the system and unplugged fromt he wall socket? https://download.asrock.com/Manual/X570 Taichi.pdf

Are you on latest chipset drivers from AMD website?
yeah and I just reinstalled windows

I feel bad wasting everyones time it seems unsolvable.
Yes I just cleared the cmos

I have the bare minimum installed. Ram is set at default speed as you guys wanted a default bios

Windows 10? All drivers including chipset up-to-date? Ram in slots a2-b2?
11 but it happened on 10 too. Yes theyre all up to date, and yes
I really think its unsolvable. The only reason I think its ryzen is because this is a complete new build compared to my old one that was doing it, except its still ryzen. My worry is that somehow I get a new pc and it still happens since this is pretty much a whole new pc and it still does.

So you've done a fresh install of Windows 10 and all the above steps and you're still having problems?

Yes, I have tried every single thing in this thread
My pc currently has the bare minimum installed which I assume crosses out software as the issue
In a sec ill make a video showing you how predictable it is. I turn on 4k res textures and it starts happening. So 4k games it happens constantly. I will use hw monitor and scroll thru the full list

Selling your entire system because you think the CPU has a problem is just dumb. It is NOT because it is a Ryzen CPU. If all, or even a small percentage of AMD CPU's had this issue you would see tens of articles about it. You have one small problem, at a minimum, with your computer that is causing a stutter while gaming. We just have to figure this out.

Did you build the PC yourself? If you did I recommend you build it outside the case and test for stuttering. If it is still happening I would recommend completely rebuilding the PC. It is probably something small, like a standoff screw for the motherboard causing a short, something small like that. I wish I could just go over there and rebuild it from scratch myself. If you rebuild it completely and it is still happening that means you have an issue with a component that is small enough to cause stutters but not big enough to cause BSODs or shutdowns.

When you said you reinstalled windows did you do a clean install? Meaning you put the boot media on a USB and when you were reinstalling windows you reformatted every partition of every drive? Also when you were using DDU to reinstall the graphics driver you did that in safe mode without networking? And after you did that you downloaded the standalone latest AMD graphics driver beforehand and then installed it in windows without an internet connection?

Thanks, I will do that. Yes I built it myself. I will do as you say and rebuild it. I have never tested outside the case, do I need a bench for that?
I will even remove the other SSD for now and just use the NVME.

I might downgrade back to windows 10 like you said first and I'll install exactly like you said.

My friend has a workbench I might ask to borrow it

You can build it in the original motherboard box. that should be fine for a test. Make sure to pay close attention when you build it outside the case and especially if you completely rebuild it (take apart everything and rebuild).

Make sure to read my entire last post. I edited it significantly.
