I was on Fry's.com looking for gaming computers because a friend recommended me to the site.

It has an AMD FX-4100 processor, which I know isn't the greatest but it's still pretty decent.
8 GB of ram seriously?
A 1 TB hard drive
AMD Radeon HD 6670 graphics card with 1 GB of memory, that's not exactly good either but it still has a whole GB of memory

I've seen many, more expensive computers come with worse specs than this. The first computer I got was just over 300 dollars with a worse processor, only 6 GB of ram compared to this one's 8, a 500 GB hard drive compared to this one's 1000, and I think a similar integrated graphics card but with only 512 MB of memory.

Maybe I got ripped off, maybe I just know nothing about computers. The gaming computer isn't exactly top tier but it's really good for 150 dollars....a little too good. Can someone clear this up for me?

For $150 it is a very good price, however the hardware is getting a bit outdated and is not of the best quality either. Still, you could upgrade easy to another cpu or even a new videocard. The new price of the pc is around $700 so not bad at all. You'll probably want to replace the psu which probably is one of the very bad ones.

The problem with that is....it isn't 2/3 of the price of that PC. Fry's/Cybertron does not pay $100 for it.
That PC will be so laden with crapware as to be unusable out of the box. Kickbacks from the crapware purveyors is one of the reasons it can be so cheap.
I just finished fixing a friends brand new laptop $350 Toshiba.

Unusable out of the box. I had to do a full wipe and reinstall.

Yeah, Fry's may not have to pay $100 for it but he would of if he to if he were building his own system. And I know new computers come with all sorts of bloatware, but decrapifier is a useful tool for helping remove all of their prebuilt garbage.
