hello

would this computer work for games?

Asus workstation mobo 7 pcie 3.0 16x
PNY Quadro M6000 (4 way sli)
intel xeon E7-8893 v2 (2 of it)
128gb 1600mhz ram
2 tb ssd

not a gaming build but would it work?

thank you!

Solution

Are you thick? That's not a gaming build. It's obviously an enterprise class machine, designed for something completely different than gaming.

His question was, will it game.

Now, providing the drivers for the M6000 work in games, there should be no problem, however I am not 100% sure about that.

The physical hardware is more than powerful enough to cope, it's a question of does it speak the same language as a game.

My instinct tells me you may have to use custom drivers for the GPU to get it to work

EDIT: After soqme research it turns out...

EDIT: After soqme research it turns out the drivers support Physx and DX, so there should be no problem to game. I mean the m6000 is a Titan X for Workstations afterall.

So you should be fine with the standard drivers.

Solution
Of course it can. Just put them all on a work station server mobo.

Since we're going for it, an alternative would be like an Asus Z9PE-D8 WS with two Xeon E5 2697v2 CPU's! This one supports two Xeon's and quad SLI/CrossfireX, though it can only support e5!

People...it seems unlikely the OP wants a gaming machine...

He is OBVIOUSLY asking if a workstation can also play games...not what PC can I buy with $5000+

Stick to the question, don't go off on some professional workstation building advice, when you are not in a position to give it.

Not my build i did not buy any of it and it has hdd too lot of it but i thought thats not important i have 1tb hdd and no ssd on my computer and i barely use 500gb
It was my fathers companys comp but he does not need it any more

Edit: this is a full working build with all components working and compatible

(sorry for the voting down i wanted to reply and pushed the wrong buttom first 🙁 )

thanks for the help
i have no idea how to do custom drivers so good that they are compatible
should i go for that or keep my build?
a10-6800k
fm2a75m-dgs
gtx 970
8gb 2400mhz
1 tb hdd (complately enough for me)

both of thoes builds i already have but if i dont need the workstation my father will put it in the warehouse :/

Edit: my monitor is 900p
i wanted to up my cpu to skylake but this might be a better opportunity and its free 😀

he will up to amd stuff that has better vram he will need now he might use this comp later but that does not mean i cant use it for the summer xD

he said that this mb is not lga 2011-v3 and cpu not 18 core or what and the vga has only slow vram some new amd card will have hbm bla-bla instead of gddr5 and he said he need that bcs of i have no idea why but he sure knows xD

(I dont think his upgrade would make gaming performance any better)

Dude...take the workstation!!! hahahaha...you have no idea how IMMENSELY über powerful that machine is!

There is literally no competition. I would take your dad's offer for sure.

You could comfortably run on a single GPU and sell the other 3 haha...or you could send me one for "testing" xD

All jokes, aside, Use that megacomputer if you already have access to it!

Would be interesting to know exactly how games scale with 4x Quadro cards

You should know that that PC costs roughly $30,000 or more even

LOL

Well bad luck kid...30k hardware...$30 screen.

Doesn't mean it won't work, you just won't see the beauty of 4k lol

i have never heard of intel xeon and have no idea how the E7-8893 will perform
can an e7-8893 v2 bottleneck 4 quadro m6000?
or no such thing exist for high end products?

i will check how my favorite games scale with thiese cards if you are interested 😉

but i think all games will max run on 60fps with this monitor isnt it?

will this computer heat up my room on high load when playing?

can i disable the other cards if i dont need them for some games or i have to manually remove them from the computer?
(bcs i dont need 4 quadro m6000 to play star was battlefront 1 right? xD)
(and it might also have some compatibility issue with sli)

any opinion on oc? there is some high end cooling inside :)
or i shuoldnt experiment on a 30 000$ pc?

we had some misunderstanding at the start but thanks to DasHotShot we got to the same page :)
