Could this disaster be the video card?

my computer randomly decides to display this

it flickers and flashes and everything just goes to hell...but fixes with a restart...I am thinking video card, but not entirely sure

if anyone else has experienced this or maybe knows a fix, please help!

I've had a similar experience on Linux Mint. Most likely your graphics card. Do you have the latest drivers for your card?

are you overclocking anything, ??? that's what i get when i push GPU to far,
If not OC, maybe program that can went boogie

I had a brand new HD4850 do that out of the box. I put it right back in the box and returned it. The replacement card worked perfectly.

if its not the vid card then its the PSU not supplying enough power.

G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) (only using 4GB)
750W PSU

everyone is running stock, I haven't overclocked anything

I sent back the video card and they sent me a new one. It's been 4 days and It's starting to happen again

If it has started to happen again with another video card and the exact same issue. Then I'd be worried something like the power supply may be damaging the cards. Usually the odds of having two cards with identical issues are extremely unlikely; so I'd recommend checking your other components out.

that's the plan, I have had several people tell me it might be the powersupply...so when I get some $$ i'm going to try a new one
