Hey guys,

SO I have been saving every penny for the last 18 months, finally got a killer Samsung 49 UltraWide 8K display, and my 3 year old GTX1080 is barely holding on, now that the 3080/3090 is out I am ready to build my dream gaming rig. budget is 3500 or less...

I am not sure if I am better off with a faster processor and a single 3090 or two 3080's, is liquid cooling at all relevant? I don't plan on overclocking as silence and stability are key and I am not experienced. I would very much appreciate a complete build recommendation within my budget optimized for 8K!

Thanks in advance...

Wont make much difference though. SLI support is waning by the way, so no point getting disappointed after spending so much money. Better to go with single bigger card.

Solution
SLi is basically dead at this point and is not supported by the 3080. Reality is true 8k is not viable for gaming. Yes a handful of games can run ok when using a 3090 it’s just too much of a performance hit to be a good option for the majority of AAA games. If you do go 8k you want the extra VRAM of the 3090. We have only just hit a level where 4K >60fps is viable as an achievable performance level.

At higher resolutions the cpu becomes less important as the amount of FPS is lower. A 3700X would be more than enough but with 5000 series being announced on the 8th October I’d wait and take a look at that.
