CounterStike lovers, prepare to embrace ATI?

Yes kinney I'm talking to YOU! (and others like you).

So for those of you enamoured with CS, ATI and Valve have an offer for you next time around.

Tired of waiting for HL2, well the Inquirer says that CS2may be within your grasp before HL2 for all those who buy the next gen ATI cards.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14979

And actually I to am looking forward to that, as long as they take a tough stance like Atari (with UT2K4) on cheaters.

An actual game with the card is sooo much more appealing than a coupon, even if it is only COD.

Difference is HL2 and beyond will cost monthly/yearly to play online via steam.

i dont think thats right. you can pay a monthly fee to play all steam delivered games, or you can just buy the games and play online free.

I hope not. I refuse to pay monthly fees to play online. Isn't it enough we buy the game and pay for broadband. I probably would have been thrilled with motor city online, but no way will I pay monthly to play. Simply don't have the time to make that worth it. Plus it just doesn't sit well with me.

Check the steam forums they were discussing something like 10 bucks a month to play HL2 and future games.

CS2 is out already!!! It's called Counterstrike: Condition Zero. It's been getting pretty bad reviews so far. It's built on the same original HL engine (which was a modified Quake 2 one), so graphics are crappy and was tossed around by 3 developers before its completion.
IMO, it seems like a crappy overpriced expansion to a free mod, and no one should have to pay anything for it. Maybe if it was built on the Source engine, then it would be worth the price.

Well, with NV's vouchers you get games that are already out!
ATIs they continue to give you vouchers for vaporware!

I'm actually hoping they offer Doom3 with one of the NV40 variations.

Sounds like the Unreal3 engine to be released in 2006 will be able to compete with the Doom 3 engine (finally)... and that sucker was recently being displayed on the NV40.
I want the fastest card for Doom 3!

Well actually this won't be vapourware (supposedly it 's ready to roll), unlike HL2.

See what they have to say at half-life source (to be shown at E3?);
http://www.halflifesource.com/cs/

And if you want the best gaming platform for D]|[ that may very well be the NV40 as Id is programing with nV Xx1/Xx0 design in mind, and certain shadow optimizations may favour nV. However I doubt any of the modern platforms will have trouble with a game that ran well in demo mod last year and has had all this time to optimize. We shall se, however if it is a case of FarCry part 2 where effects and IQ need to be turned down in order to perform, then that would be sad. There really is no reason for this title to play poorly on ANY system.

And to splenda, nah this isn't condition zero this IS CS2, and it will be based on HL2's engine not the old engine. Re-read the link.

Condition zero is a refresh (or really Valve's first go), not the sequel.

Hopefully with CS2 theyare tougher on cheaters, and take after ATARI in blocking CD keys of known cheaters. That alone would entice me back to CS.

I read that CS2 wouldnt be ready to roll but hopefully it will.

OOOoohhh... its all about Ultra Shadow.
Looks really good in Splinter Cell.

The cheaters ruin CS for me... I still pop in and out of the game tho..

in all actuality, I dont play much actual "CS", when I say that I am really referring to the plethora of mods out there...

cant beat a game of Day of Defeat, Natural Selection, CS whatever you fancy all through the slick Steam setup.

I play more NS and DOD than CS.

CS is just kind of the quintessential mod. Probably the biggest, mod, ever!
