Coupon #s for Dimension 8300 and 4600

Archived from groups: alt.sys.pc-clone.dell (More info?)

The 8300 is gone from the "new" section of Dell's site - it's been replaced
by the 8400.
You can often find Dell coupon info at www.xpbargains.com

Thanks. Do you know how the 8400 is different from the 8300?

Same chassis - very different internals. CPU is the new LGA775 format, vs.
the old Socket478 on the 8300; no AGP slot on the 8400 - uses PCI Express,
the replacement for AGP. Memory is the very new DDR-2 type - and very
expensive now (think pricing similar to or more than RDRAM).

Thanks, after posting my reply I went to the dell site and did a compare.
the pc is for someone who primaril;y sends email, browses the 'net and
listens to music.
I'm leaning towards a 4600 w/ hyperthreading, r/w dvd and cd rom, w/ 512mb
memory. He'd likes a nice ultra sharp
17" or 18" lcd monitor. What do oyou think?

Mike I have two LCD 's a old 1702P and 1703P the picture is sharp. I
purchased a computer in April and got some new speakers # 5650. These
speakers are a 5+1 setup. The center speaker hooks right on to the stand of
the 1703P.
Here is another place to look for a computers. Costco sells Dell 's online
only . They have 4600 's. http://www.costco.com/
