Courser skips or disappears while typing. Can someone Help?

I just installed a mobile microsoft 4000 mouse on my Dell that has Vista 64 bit installed on it. Now when I am typing anything the courser will jump in the middle of another word somewhere else or it will just disappear until I re-click to where I need to type again. I am not having this problem on my other dell computer that has windows 7 home premium 64 bit on it. Why would this be happening on the Vista one. The mouse packaging says that it's Vista compatable... Help!

Are you using the same mouse on both computers? If the one with the issue a laptop? Watch the touchpad on it, every single mystery cursor movement I have seen has been people hitting the touchpad as they type.

They are both laptops... does the touch pad become more sensitive once a wireless mouse is added? I used a wireless one before and didn't have that problem.

New mouse should not affect the touchpad, but try this. Disable the touchpad in options or in BIOS, try again. Or try typing with your hands well above the palm rest, things should be working fine then. You can tweak the touchpad easily once you rule out the issue as anything else.

Like I said, EVERY single time I see a "mouse is moving around" issue, it was with a touchpad.
