Hello everyone,
I'm currently looking into my cpu temps, as they seem high to me. While doing so i discovered the temps fly from 50 to 65 degrees when the slightest load is put on it.
To sum it up
SYSTEM
Intel I7-2600 with stock cooler
Asrock Z77e-itx
OCZ extreme 650W
Samsung 850 evo 500GB
2x8GB DDR3 Kingston RAM
Cooler master elite 130
EDIT: Radeon HD6950
Temps
- Right after boot: 65 degrees
- Idling for a while: 45-50 degrees
- Light usage (browsing + video) 55-60 degrees
- Prime95 (V26.6 was recommended by someone for this cpu)
- The moment i press start, cpu temperature goes from 45 to 60 instantly
- Temperature keeps increasing after that by 1 per second +/- untill 89-90
- Temperature continues to increase untill i stop prime95 when it reaches 96 degrees
Temperatures measured (in separate runs) with speccy, realtemp, HWmonitor? and something else i found somewhere recommended. They all show +/- the same temperatures.
Prime95 V26.6 and latest have both been tried, same results. Both using the first option: Small FFTs
I have reseated the stock cooler with new thermal paste, although i'm not sure if it has been done correctly. Followed what most guides advised: pea sized drop in the middle and on with that cooler.
Now about that cooler, it doesn't just go on there, it requieres fiddling with 2 of the 4 pins to succesfully mount it.
Any chance it's not 100% guaranteed to be seated correctly even when the pins are through the motherboard?
Did order a new cooler, noctua NH-L9i, will arrive tomorrow.
EDIT2: When running prime95 under the same conditions as described above, in the same room with another computer, one that is in a confined space in that room, the temperatures of that device only go up very slowly compared to this one.
It's a lenovo prebuild machine running the following
I5-3470S
2X4GB DDR3
Some SFX(?) power supply that most websites consider not to be enough (180w)
Kingston SV300 SSD 500GB
No GPU
I think i got all the information written down, if i forgot something, feel free to ask.
Thanks in advance!
Glenn
