Hi guys so i made a custom built PC like 4 months ago
Specs:
I7 930 2.8GHZ
16GB ram(1x8)(1x4)(2×2)
MSI's AMD RX 560 4GB DDR5 OC edition

My friend got an I3 7th gen 3.9ghz, a gt 1030 2GB ddr5 and 8GB of ram, and he scores higher fps then me almost double fps on all even tho my gpu's benchmark are better then him is it because of the cpu?

Solution
An i7-970 or an i7-980X would be about all you could upgrade to on that motherboard. Again, for maximum performance, THREE 8GB DIMMs is optimal.
If you want to change to a 7700K you HAVE to change motherboard and RAM. You have an X58 motherboard which is almost 10 years old. You can't use a current CPU in a 10 year old motherboard. To use a 7700K you have to have either a 100 series or 200 series motherboard. You also have to have DDR4 memory for a 7700K. You have DDR3 on your motherboard that won't work with a 7700K.

Kanewolf well i'm not planning on changing the motherboard soon but i will change my rams to a 2×8gb for a total of 16GB ddr3 of ram but any sugestions about a CPU because i want to upgrade it
