CPU AIR Cooler For i7 7700K

I want to get a better CPU air cooler for my i7 7700k, which one should i buy? max 75$, i was thinking about the Dark Rock Pro 4

Your case has the supported CPU cooler tower height. What is the case or the supported tower height? That will narrow the list of CPU coolers.

The Dark Rock Pro 4 does fit LGA 1151 and is 163 mm tall.

If you are spending that much, I would get a Noctua NH-D14 OR NH-D15. The NH-D15 is the best air cooler in my opinion. I've had the earlier NH-D14 for years.

Also keep in mind the RAM clearance of the cooler. The Dark Rock Pro 4 has ~40mm of clearance with it's fan at stock height. You can adjust it to a degree, but keep in mind it will change the overall height of the cooler when you do it.

Also very good coolers, and I'd throw the Noctua NH-D15s in to the mix as well. It's only a couple degrees off of what the NH-D15 cools at, is $10 cheaper, and wont have any RAM clearance issues that the NH-D15, NH-D14 and Dark Rock Pro 4 have.

But for the extra $10, you get another NF-A15 140mm PWM fan. That fan can be used elsewhere in the case, and you still have the NH-D15S version with one fan.


That NF-A15 140mm PWM fan is $22.

There is also a tiny bit of difference in the cooler design, but nothing really noticeable if the motherboard was already compatible with the NH-D15. If the OP has a use for the extra fan elsewhere then by all means the NH-D15 is a better deal as Noctua fans tend to be pricey.
