Question CPU Always at Maximum Processor State

My cpu has been running at the same percentage of what the max processor state is, this has been going on for couple of weeks and i can't seem to find the reason why this is happening. I have tried all sorts of methods, did not work.

Here is the image of my task manager:

One thing to note is that the application that uses the most cpu usage will changed depending on what application i'm on, for example if i am on chrome it would be chrome having majority of the cpu usage

any ideas?

what CPU do you have?

is it the same in safe mode?

I have never seen most of the tasks taking CPU usage like that. Have you tried scanning for viruses?

KVRT is a nice tool from Kaspersky for one time cleaning for Viruses. Try a scan.

sorry for the late reply, the cpu i have is the ryzen 5 5600x, and it is the same in safe mode here is the pic.

I have also done a basic scan of KVRT found nothing

Have you got newest bios on motherboard?

What are specs of the PC?

which version of win 10/11

1. right click start
   
2. choose run...
   
3. type winver and press enter
   
4. current version is 21H2

I am behind one version as i did update the bios before to see if it fixed it didnt, I am running win 10 21h2

mpg b550 gaming edge wifi
ryzen 5 5600x
1660 ti
g skill trident z neo 2x 16 gb ddr4

So problem is CPU is always at 87% usage or that its always high?

safe mode shows its not a driver problem.

Yes the CPU is always high

search is not always at the top, the one at top is the application i am currently using, for example if im using file explorer that will be on be on top

so i kept looking for solutions and found something interesting, process explorer shows a much lower cpu usage than task manager
is this the fault of task manager?

there was a bug a few versions ago where task manager would show wrong usage in CPU column. I had thought it was fixed by now

what does task manager/Services tab sorted by CPU show as max? it includes system idle process in its columns


right click start button

choose powershell (admin)

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth
and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow
and press enter

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

task manager has no idea how fast my CPU is going, but thats more on the performance tab than on the usage tab. Always thinks I am running at 4ghz, when rarely I am.

for the task manager, it shows that system idle is at the top

tried the powershell, no changes

my pc does not feel slow, so it might just be task manager acting up

Task manager isn't ideal to track usage it seems, I would stick to process explorer. As I said already, its got no idea what my CPU is doing so its usefulness going forward is questionable. I always until now used it to track performance but I have to use HWINFO to have any clue what CPU is actually doing, looks like I should set Process explorer to replace task manager, its an option in its options
