Hello,

I just installed an 8700k. I set the clock to 4.4 ghz, but it seems to be running athe max speed all the time. Is there a setting in bios that I have selected that's making this happen? My motherboard is MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC

Where did you set that?

You have C state options in the BIOS, or you have various 'power options' inside Windows. "Performance mode" will have the CPU run at it's max clock speed 24/7.
They only thing i did was activate XMP and change the core voltage to 1.108 and the the ratio to 44. My windows power mode is on balanced. It's running at max clock speed with low cpu useage

Hey, actually it was an error with realtemp. I was using realtemp.exe and not realtempGT and so it was showing max speed for some reason. I used GT and CPUZ and both are showing low speeds during idle.
