Hello

I have been researching parts for a new smaller build for a friend and have found a motherboard and CPU that seem to fit the job nicely. However, I'm not completely sure if they will be compatible out of the box or whether a BIOS update will be necessary

Motherboard:

CPU:
http://

Will this pairing be able to run as they are out of the box or is a bios update essential?

If a bios update is needed, will i have to use a second different CPU to perform the update?

Thank you

Solution
It will be compatible but BIOS 22.2 will have to be on the mobo first. For it to support that CPU

Pentium Haswell Refresh G3258 100 3.2 512KB 3M C0 53 HD Graphics 1100MHz 7817vM2.zip

And yes if the BIOS thats on the mobo (when you buy it), doesnt support it, you'll have to use / buy a supported CPU then flash the BIOS first

ah I see, is there a way to know then, what version is on the board before you buy it?

Do you know of any motherboards that would work from purchase for a similar price point?

Sorry for the late reply.

Is this motherboard an option too: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4668#bios

I only ask this because the CPU support list shows every processor as supported since BIOS version F4 and the earliest BIOS available is F4 which leads me to believe any unit of this model I purchase will already have version F4.

Am I wrong or is this an option?

Thanks
